Forbidden Cuba

The Look measures 12.6 x 12.6 cm and can be hung on the wall or stood up.

It is a photograph behind 3 mm clear acrylic on an MDF block of 110 x 110 x 22 mm. The country is engraved on the side; the photographer, the title and the country are on the back.

The Wrapp is a 0.8 mm silicone frame that clicks around it. Together, a Wrapped Look measures 126 x 126 x 25 mm.

Hand-finished in our Foto Lab in Amstelveen.

A young Cuban boxer stands with quiet defiance against a weathered green wall, her hands on her hips and Windy gloves catching the light as her jersey — designed after the Cuban flag in bold red white and blue — commands the frame with color and pride. The natural light falls evenly across her face, revealing a gaze that is calm yet charged with the raw energy and motion that defines street life in Cuba. Barry Crosthwaite captures this powerful portrait with the instinctive honesty of street photography, finding in one unposed moment the spirit of a nation and the strength of an individual who refuses to go unnoticed.
