Bare winter trees rise from a small island on De Poel, their skeletal branches reflected perfectly in the glassy still water as morning fog softens the horizon into warm amber and cool grey. Weathered wooden pilings emerge from the foreground, remnants of a forgotten structure that anchor the composition and lead the eye deeper into the mist. This quiet corner of the Netherlands breathes with a rare calm, where silence feels almost tangible and time seems to pause between the water and the sky. Photographer Thijs Friederich captures the Dutch landscape with a patient and meditative eye, finding stillness in the spaces where nature reclaims what was left behind.
Based in the Netherlands, Thijs Friederich is a landscape photographer capturing epic scenes through wide-angle, macro and drone photography. Focusing close to home and during international travel, he uses color and perfect timing to transform natural landscapes with dramatic light.
