Bow Fiddle Rock rises dramatically from the glassy waters of the Moray Firth near Portknockie, its striking natural arch cutting a bold silhouette against a brooding twilight sky streaked with faint amber and steel blue. The long exposure transforms the surrounding sea into a mirror of silk, drawing the eye from the dark foreground rocks toward the ancient sea stack standing alone in quiet majesty. This is Scotland's rugged coastline distilled into a single breathtaking moment of calm and silence, where the wild and the still exist in perfect tension. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite captures the elemental soul of the Scottish landscape with patience and precision, finding poetry in the hour where day surrenders to dark.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
