From high above, a weathered wooden boardwalk curves gracefully along the jagged limestone cliffs of Coron in the Philippines, leading to a thatched overwater hut where calm turquoise waters lap quietly beneath. A traditional outrigger boat rests alongside the dock, its white hull contrasting against the dark, razor-sharp karst formations that rise dramatically from the sea cloaked in wild green vegetation. The mood is one of deep calm and silence, where nature's raw architecture and humble human shelter exist in quiet harmony. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite captures this hidden corner of the Philippine landscape with a steady and reverent eye, finding stillness in a world shaped by ancient stone and sea.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
