The iconic red tram of Istiklal Avenue rolls forward beneath a canopy of red and gold Galatasaray pennants strung across the grand European facades of Istanbul, filling the frame with joyful color and street energy. Route 34's Taksim–Tünel line cuts through the lively scene as warm afternoon light catches the polished bodywork of this beloved piece of living Turkish heritage. The composition pulses with the rhythm of daily life in Turkey, where nostalgia and celebration coexist on every corner. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite finds poetry in motion, capturing the vibrant soul of Istanbul's streets with a sharp and celebratory eye.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
