Weathered lobster traps fill the foreground in soft focus as the calm harbour of St Monans opens up behind them, its still water reflecting the whitewashed and terracotta-roofed buildings that line the quayside. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite captures the working soul of the Scottish coast with a steady and contemplative eye, finding calm and silence in the everyday rhythms of a harbour town.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
