Perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop in the Swiss Engadin valley, Schloss Tarasp rises in pale stone against a sweeping landscape of emerald meadows, dense alpine forest and jagged mountain peaks. The aerial perspective captures the castle's layered architecture in warm natural light, with clouds casting gentle shadows across the valley below and lending the scene a calm, almost meditative stillness. Every detail — from the steeply pitched rooftops to the ancient walls rooted into bare rock — speaks to centuries of history quietly held within this breathtaking Alpine setting. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite frames Switzerland's architectural heritage with a composed and unhurried eye, finding in this remote fortress a silence that feels both timeless and deeply alive.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
