A cluster of small fishing boats bobs gently on the turquoise waters of Cabo Verde, their hulls painted in vivid stripes of yellow, blue and red catching the warm coastal light. Worn rope lines, round buoys and weathered wood tell quiet stories of daily life on the water, while the calm sea reflects a sense of unhurried stillness. The street and social life of these islands is written into every scuff and brushstroke of these working vessels, each one carrying its own identity — a number, a name, a character. Photographer Kaido Haagen captures this ordinary moment with an eye for color and calm, finding beauty in the humble rhythms of Cape Verdean fishing life.
Originally from Estonia, Kaido Haagen is a photographer with over 30 years of experience. He travels globally capturing architecture, travel landscapes and the underwater world. Featured in major exhibitions and books, his award-winning work stands out for its clarity and mastery of light.
