At dusk, the Grand Canal stretches into the heart of Venice as warm amber light dissolves into a deep blue sky above the iconic dome of Santa Maria della Salute. The still water mirrors the glow of lanterns and city lights lining the ornate facades of centuries-old palazzos, creating a scene that feels suspended between day and night. Gondola moorings rise from the foreground like silent sentinels as seabirds drift through the last light above the lagoon. Photographer Michael Abid captures Venice at its most luminous and timeless, finding in this eternal Italian city a quiet magic that lingers long after the sun has set.
Originally from Ukraine and based in Germany, Michael Abid became a professional photographer in 2013. He travels globally capturing striking cityscapes, landscapes and architecture. Using engineering precision, he beautifully transforms iconic locations through light.
