Cobblestones curve gently through Victoria Street in Edinburgh's Old Town, where a row of vividly painted shopfronts in bold blue, coral, magenta and teal glow warmly against the cool twilight hour. Towering sandstone tenements rise behind the colourful facades as soft clouds blush pink above the city's iconic Gothic rooflines, creating a scene that feels both ancient and alive. Photographer Michael Abid captures this beloved Edinburgh landmark at the perfect threshold between day and night, where warm interior light spills onto wet stone and the atmosphere turns quietly magical.
Originally from Ukraine and based in Germany, Michael Abid became a professional photographer in 2013. He travels globally capturing striking cityscapes, landscapes and architecture. Using engineering precision, he beautifully transforms iconic locations through light.
