Perched dramatically above the Aegean Sea, the whitewashed village of Chora cascades down a rocky hillside on the Greek island of Skyros, its cubic architecture climbing toward the ruins of an ancient kastro that crowns the summit. The muted morning light softens the dense cluster of white cubic buildings, their flat rooftops and terracotta accents forming a quiet rhythm against the steel-blue water and hazy mountain coastline beyond. A deep sense of calm and silence hangs over the scene, as if time slows in this corner of Greece where architecture and landscape have grown inseparable. Photographer Giannis Giannelos captures his homeland with an intimate and unhurried eye, revealing the layered beauty of Greek island life in a single breathtaking frame.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
