Icicles hang like tiny daggers from the snow-laden eaves of an old timber cabin, framing a frost-covered window whose six panes are etched with intricate ice crystals in swirling white and grey. The warm golden tones of the weathered wooden logs glow in the cold winter light, creating a quiet tension between the chill of the season and the enduring solidity of the structure. This intimate scene from Vargamäe captures the deep silence of an Estonian winter with a stillness that feels almost suspended in time. Photographer Kaido Haagen brings a patient and tender eye to the Estonian landscape, finding beauty in the overlooked details of frost and wood and the slow breath of the coldest months.
