A woman in a navy polka-dot dress ascends a narrow staircase lined with deep red carpet, its risers gilded with the words "Wine Bar" in warm gold lettering that draws the eye upward through the frame. The composition pulls you forward with quiet momentum, the copper handrail and pale walls creating an intimate corridor that feels both nostalgic and full of anticipation. This slice of Australian social life captures the effortless energy of a city evening just beginning to unfold. Photographer Pepijn Thijsse finds poetry in the in-between moments, turning a simple staircase into a story about where we are headed and the pleasure of getting there.
