Perched dramatically on rugged cliffs above the Ligurian Sea, the ancient village of Manarola in Cinque Terre glows with warm amber light as dusk settles over the Italian coastline. Layers of colorful buildings cascade down the rockface toward a sheltered harbor where still waters reflect the last traces of twilight and the deep blue of the sea stretches toward the horizon. The long exposure softens the waves against the jagged shoreline, creating a sense of calm and silence that seems to hold the entire scene in quiet suspension. Photographer Scott Stulberg captures the timeless architecture and irresistible warmth of Italy with an eye for the magical hour when a place reveals its truest soul.
