Perched dramatically on a sun-baked hilltop above the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea, the whitewashed village of Astypalea cascades down the rocky terrain beneath a solitary cloud that hovers like a quiet guardian over the ancient kastro. The vivid contrast between the earthy brown cliffs, the dazzling white architecture and the infinite stretch of cobalt sea creates a composition of extraordinary calm and silence. Photographer Giannis Giannelos captures the soul of Greece with a stillness that feels almost sacred, revealing this lesser-known island jewel in all its timeless and luminous beauty.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
