A lone figure rows silently across the still waters of Karavomylos, his small boat a dark silhouette against the silver shimmer of the Greek lake stretching toward the horizon. Above him a vast flock of birds sweeps through the cool misty air, their wings echoing the dramatic sweep of cloud-wrapped mountains in the distance. The entire scene is rendered in hushed blue-grey tones that deepen the sense of solitude and quiet communion between man, water and sky. Photographer Giannis Giannelos captures the calm and timeless soul of Greece with a masterful eye for stillness, finding in this fleeting moment something ancient and enduring.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
