A weathered wooden walkway cuts straight into a churning sea as storm clouds mass overhead, their steel-grey forms mirrored in the turbulent green-blue waters crashing on either side. At the end of the path a crumbling stone structure stands defiant against the waves, caught between the last warm glow on the horizon and the raw energy of an approaching Greek storm. The long exposure transforms the surging surf into silken motion, giving this coastal landscape from Greece an almost mythic tension between stillness and force. Photographer Giannis Giannelos has an extraordinary gift for finding the decisive threshold — the moment where the path runs out and only the sea remains.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
