A quiet pedestrian street in Pamplona stretches into the night, its centuries-old facades bathed in the warm amber glow of street lamps that illuminate iron balconies, stone archways and colorful shuttered doorways. The empty cobblestone walkway and shuttered storefronts create a mood of deep calm and silence, while layers of architectural detail reveal the rich urban character of this storied Spanish city. Photographer Alexander Riek captures the stillness between the hours, finding in Pamplona's old town a rare and unhurried beauty that daylight and crowds rarely allow.
Based in Germany, Alexander Riek is a photographer and animal scientist who travels globally. He captures the unique stories of destinations worldwide, focusing primarily on landscapes, architecture and wildlife.
