Narrow stone passageways wind between ancient walls of peeling plaster in shades of dusty rose, faded yellow and weathered white, drawing the eye through a graceful arch toward a glowing interior beyond. The textures of volcanic rock and crumbling paint tell stories of centuries passed, while cool and warm tones collide in a quiet tension that feels both abandoned and alive. This is Greece stripped of its postcard gloss — raw, layered and hauntingly beautiful, captured somewhere between ruin and memory. Photographer Giannis Giannelos reveals the soul of Greek architecture through shadow and contrast, finding poetry in the spaces most visitors walk past without a second glance.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
