From a sweeping elevated vantage point, the terracotta rooftops of Corfu Town glow in warm saffron and amber tones as the sun dips toward the horizon, casting a spectacular blaze of pink, violet and gold across the sky. At the heart of the composition stands the elegant bell tower of Saint Spyridon Church, its deep red dome and ornate clock face rising proudly above the labyrinth of Venetian-era buildings that define the island's UNESCO-listed old town. In the distance, the imposing silhouette of the New Fortress anchors the skyline against the shimmering Ionian Sea, completing a scene that radiates both history and joy. Photographer Giannis Giannelos captures the living soul of Greece with an eye for color and light that transforms the urban architecture of Corfu into something genuinely transcendent.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
