At dusk, the medieval canal houses of Bruges line the water's edge in a breathtaking display of Flemish architecture, their warm amber lights glowing against a dramatic sky of deep blues and burning gold. The still canal mirrors both the historic facades and the turbulent heavens above, creating a perfect symmetry between earth and sky. Photographer Michael Abid captures the magic hour of this Belgian gem with quiet mastery, finding in its reflections a city that seems to exist in two worlds at once: timeless, atmospheric and unmistakably Bruges.
Originally from Ukraine and based in Germany, Michael Abid became a professional photographer in 2013. He travels globally capturing striking cityscapes, landscapes and architecture. Using engineering precision, he beautifully transforms iconic locations through light.
