Nestled within the dramatic karst limestone cliffs of the Philippines, a solitary overwater structure sits at the heart of a glowing turquoise lagoon, its thatched roof and geometric wooden forms mirrored in the impossibly clear water below. The aerial perspective reveals a hidden sanctuary where coral reefs shimmer beneath the surface and dense jungle clings to every rocky edge, wrapping the scene in calm and silence. Soft tropical light breaks through heavy clouds above, casting a luminous glow across the water that makes the lagoon appear almost otherworldly. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite captures this secret corner of the Philippine landscape with quiet reverence, finding stillness and wonder in the places where nature and human shelter exist as one.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
