A young novice monk stands in quiet meditation, his eyes gently closed and his saffron robe draped softly against the pale blue sky of Mandalay, Myanmar. The warm golden light falls across his shaved head and bare shoulder, creating a portrait of serene stillness that feels both deeply human and quietly sacred. Every element of the composition — the muted horizon, the rich red cloth and the child's peaceful expression — speaks to a world of mystery and contrast. Photographer Scott Stulberg captures the soul of Myanmar through portraits like this one, finding transcendence in a single moment of silence.
