A traditional Dutch windmill rises as a dark silhouette against a breathtaking amber sky, its four sails frozen mid-turn above a mist-covered polder landscape in the Netherlands. The warm orange glow of early morning wraps the scene in calm and silence, with wisps of fog drifting through the reeds and a lone street lamp casting a gentle flicker beside the mill. Every detail — from the latticed sails to the still waterways below — feels suspended in quiet, timeless beauty. Photographer Thijs Friederich captures the soul of the Dutch landscape with a rare stillness, transforming a familiar icon into something deeply poetic and serene.
