A row of impossibly vivid buildings — hot pink, sunshine yellow and cobalt blue — lines the waterfront of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, their reflections mirrored so perfectly in the still harbour water that the world seems to fold in on itself. Despite the overcast light of a Scottish day, the architecture radiates pure joy, the bold colours of this iconic Scottish town cutting through the grey with effortless charm. Photographer Barry Crosthwaite finds the celebration hidden within the ordinary, capturing Tobermory's famous façades with a quiet precision that turns a harbour scene into something closer to a painting.
Inspired by National Geographic, Barry Crosthwaite developed a lifelong passion for travel and photography. Following a business career, he turned full-time in 2021, capturing portraits, landscapes and street scenes guided by a pursuit of balance.
