A wooden jetty sits in perfect silhouette against the glassy stillness of a lake near Amstelveen, its reflection mirrored so precisely in the water that the boundary between surface and sky almost disappears. The horizon glows with a warm gradient of amber and rose, fading gently downward into soft lavender as the last light of day settles over the Dutch landscape. Every element — the dark treeline, the motionless water and the solitary structure — contributes to a mood of profound calm and silence. Photographer Thijs Friederich captures the Netherlands at its most quietly breathtaking, finding in simplicity a stillness that feels almost meditative.
Based in the Netherlands, Thijs Friederich is a landscape photographer capturing epic scenes through wide-angle, macro and drone photography. Focusing close to home and during international travel, he uses color and perfect timing to transform natural landscapes with dramatic light.
