A sea of terracotta rooftops tumbles across the hillside of Corfu's old town, warm ochres and faded oranges stacked against a moody grey sky that makes the colors glow all the more fiercely. A red-domed church tower rises at the heart of the composition, its cross reaching upward as laundry dries on a balcony below and shuttered windows hint at lives quietly unfolding behind ancient walls. The architecture of this Greek island carries centuries of Venetian influence in every peeling façade and clay tile, creating an urban landscape that feels both weathered and vibrantly alive. Photographer Giannis Giannelos captures Corfu with the eye of someone who truly belongs to it, finding joy and color in the beautiful chaos of a city that has never stopped telling its story.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
