Perched impossibly atop sheer rock pillars, a centuries-old monastery emerges from swirling clouds in the mythical landscape of Meteora, Greece, its terracotta rooftops offering a rare flash of warmth against the cool grey mist. The towering stone formations rise like silent sentinels around the structure, while layers of fog drift between the cliffs and dissolve into the valley below, lending the scene an otherworldly depth and mystery. Light filters softly through the haze, blurring the boundary between earth and sky and turning this corner of the Greek landscape into something closer to legend than reality. Photographer Giannis Giannelos captures his homeland with a quiet reverence, finding in its ancient heights a stillness that feels both sacred and eternal.
Born in Athens, Greece, Giannis Giannelos became a professional photographer at 18. Having published dozens of photo books spanning cultural heritage and advertising, his true passion remains capturing architecture, geometry and the emotional freedom of nature.
